Eastbridge,
Suffolk
Sleeps 4 (2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms)
Drift End Cottage, newly refurbished with style and to a high standard, is a quiet, very comfortable semi-detached period property on the edge of the small village of Eastbridge in Suffolk, and close to Minsmere RSPB Bird Reserve, with stunning, uninterrupted views over meadows and marshes towards the sea.
The cottage itself is tucked away down a farm track, which joins a footpath leading down to the coast, one and a half miles away, and Minsmere is also within walking distance. You might hear the bitterns boom, and see marsh harriers, geese, barn owls and more from your own doorstep!
The cottage is very well equipped throughout and all linen and heating is included. The sitting room has a woodburning stove for winter evenings, and the conservatory and private garden have long views over the countryside. The large kitchen/dining room leads to a utility area and shower room. The first floor offers two double bedrooms and a newly-installed modern bathroom.
The area is quite magical – wide open skies, acres of protected marshland, meadows, heath and woodland, miles of deserted seashore, quiet rivers and country lanes. It is the perfect spot for nature lovers, birdwatchers, walkers, cyclists and painters, and has strong musical connections – Benjamin Britten founded the annual Aldeburgh Festival at Snape Maltings, and smaller concerts abound in local churches and other venues.
